Who are we?Northern Hope Winery is owned by Richard (Eddie) and Samantha Edwards. Originally from Manchester UK, Sam has a background in digital advertising and Eddie as a Creative Director and needless to say both enjoy good vino!
Making the move to Australia in 2012 was an absolute adventure and like so many ex pats we made St Kilda our new home. We soon established a love for Australian wine, visiting all the different wine regions and seeing the incredible passion within the industry. It seemed only fitting to give it a go ourselves. The Macedon Ranges was the most obvious choice for us, it's cool climate, terroir and friendly community of wine makers just ticked all our boxes. After helping out other winemakers for several years we took the plunge to beginning our own label. We purchased a perfect hillside property to grow premium wine grapes. The undulating site is north east facing with deep, fertile soil and a microclimate well suited to producing high quality fruit. Many other wineries in the area also see the potential of this terroir with Lanes End and Wilimee located just down the road. Eddie escaped the rat race for a year working as a cellar hand for a local contract winemaking facility gaining incredible hands on experience in winemaking across a huge range of varietals. Over the last few years, we’ve also helped out with vintages at local Macedon Ranges wineries, this has helped us to experience the different wine making techniques and influence our own style and technique. |

In 2018, we planted 1700 Pinot Noir MV6 clones, on a rolling slope with help from our friends and family. We’re very excited to see these vines grow and develop however as they will not be ready to produce grapes until 2022, we have sourced grapes from an established local Macedon Ranges Vineyard and this vintage is now ready to be purchased. Once you get to know us, you’ll see that we’re two hard working Northerners, we like to remember our roots and produce wines that are true to this region with minimal intervention. We look forward to sharing our wine (and our northern ways) with you soon. |
